West Michigan Lakeshore Association of REALTORS® Government Affairs
Committee homepage.
Here you will find information on legislative and political issues relating to the business
of real estate as well as home ownership and private property rights. Your 2008 GA
committee is committed to ensuring that all local REALTORS® and homeowners have a
voice in local, state and nation politics. Our profession and livelihood is constantly under
attack from new bills, laws, taxes and ordinances and we are here to make sure that our
political leaders act responsibly when considering issues that affect real estate and private
property rights. Some of the main issues we will be tackling this year include:
Candidate Interviews –Once again our GA committee has the unique opportunity to
interview many of our state representatives and many local candidates for county and
township positions. Through our interviews we will be asking many important questions
relating to our real estate trade. After much review from our committee, we will have the
honor of endorsing candidates that share our views and will help make our voice heard.
RPAC –We are very proud of the many awards won in the past years for member support
of this important business insurance and we intend to exceed our goals again this year.
NAR has offered a partnership for some major donor events that we plan to conduct
throughout the year. Through this partnership we plan to increase our associations
contribution to RPAC significantly.
Local Government –Our GA
committee will be working together to monitor new and existing ordinances that affect
our business. Through communication with local government we hope to raise awareness
and bring change to help in the sale of real estate.
Remember we are here for you, our members and local homeowners, feel free to contact
myself, any of the members of the committee, or our staff with questions, comments or
concerns.
